In basic terms Wimax is a wireless system which allows data to be communicated through a series of transmitters - very like the mobile phone network.
Click the image below to see an illustration of the Wimax network.
How Much Does Wimax Cost ?
Wimax is currently available for a monthly subscription of €29.90 per month for the first 6 months, increasing to €34.90 thereafter.
There is a one-off set up fee of €49.90. All necessary material is provided free of charge.
Currently installation is provided free of charge (currently only until the 30 June in the Limousin).
What Do I Get For My Subscription ?
Customers are provided with a 'Phonybox' (see picture at bottom of page) which is used to connect to the Internet and also to provide optional telephone services.
Can I Get Internet Telephone On Wimax ?
Yes. For a monthly charge of €9.90 per month you can benefit from a phone service offering unlimited calls to landlines and 27 other countries. For a list of the countries included please click here.
If you do not mind changing your phone number then there is no need to keep your existing landline, meaning you can save the monthly line rental costs !
Free calls are limited to a duration of 2 hours per call. Calls to mobiles and 'special' numbers are charged by the minute.
